A Dolls House Rehearsal 1 - 29th November

 Activities Completed Today

In this rehearsal, we began by reading through the script a number of times and discussing the inner emotions of our characters and how we would portray these on stage. We then decided to discuss our first impressions on staging and blocking and the relationship the two characters had.

In the afternoon, we decided to do a classic acting technique: Hot Seating. This exercise was useful for us to develop our character's mannerisms and inflections in their personality. We were also able to gain a further understanding of our characters through answering questions in their mindset, allowing us to see into our characters morals and views on others.

Initial Response From Working With My Partner On My Scene

After only having one rehearsal, me and Alicia have already got a full plan for our piece. We were both on the same thought process when it came to the emotions of our characters and the objectives of them throughout the scene. The Hot Seat exercise we used today was also a perfect opportunity to for us to get used to working with each other while in the mind set and roles of our characters, we found that our methods for learning lines, blocking and devising a piece were very similar and we also felt there was a clear power struggle that changed from each character during certain points of the scene and we established what these were and how they changed. This was all very effective in us developing our scene ready for when we start blocking the piece.
