Reflection Of Morning Rehearsal (Before Assessment)
Before our assessment today, we were given time to rehearse our piece. However, Alicia was ill on this day and as a result Saskia (whose partner also wasn't in) stood in and read Alicia's line while I performed the scene and read the lines in her scene too.
Me and Saskia began by going through our scenes and reading through the lines, where we then discussed the staging of our scenes and any physical movements that were required for our character's lines. For my piece there was no specific movements required for the scene to move forward, so we made the decision to keep Saskia sitting on the sofa throughout the scene as me and Alicia has originally decided to stay sitting down throughout most of the scene anyway.
However, I feel that making this decision did also hinder my performance a little as result, as I felt in the rehearsals that I was almost trying to make up with the static nature of the other character on the stage by moving around much more than I was originally going to. As a result, I feel that this made the piece feel less naturalistic as I felt the need to move around more to keep the piece interesting instead of moving because I wanted to.
Overall, I feel this rehearsal was incredibly successful. With the circumstances we were under, I feel that me and Saskia worked very well to ensure that we could have the best performances possible.
